You wouldn't let a 7-year-old see this, but its surrounding competition of talk shows had gotten more controversial, and Afterschool Specials had to do the same to stay relevant. For the rest of its existence the series would focus on teens only, and teen-related issues. A new added message encouraged parents to tape the programs and watch them later "with those they care about" -- this is the only TV show I know of that didn't have a problem with folks skipping out on giving them Nielsen points.
