The following video-game-related items are so rare, you probably haven't heard of any of them. They are all real, there is only a handful in the world of each, and you can NEVER HAVE THEM, because of the wallet-stopping combination of being both expensive AND totally useless. You can look, though. But you can't ever touch. Or play, or eat, or whatever applies in each case.

NINTENDO POWER PREVIEWS KIOSK

This fancy kiosk was in use during the 1990's at various toy and department stores. Instead of an actual playable kiosk, store owners had the option of an interactive Laserdisc-operated machine, powered by a SNES, that jumped to preview trailers of various Nintendo games when you pushed their respective buttons

Well, the SNES used laserdisc.....during the N64 years they went with cheaper VCDs

eBay Price: $300

NINTENDO POWER PREVIEWS SNES CARTRIDGE

It does nothing if you put it into an actual SNES. Its only purpose was to run the mechanics of the Power Previews kiosk

I guess it was cheaper to adapt technology they already had

eBay Price: $500
The kiosk price above was just for a shell...the cartridge is rarer and worth more

NINTENDO POWER PREVIEWS LASERDISC

This is the eleventh one in the series. Fortunately for you, that one has already been uploaded to YouTube, so it costs you nothing

Others have turned up, but have never been uploaded

eBay Price: $150

"THIS IS COOL" SEGA SATURN

This is the coolest Saturn model of them all, because it says so

It's also the rarest Saturn. Only sold in Japan, with a mere 50,000 units in existence

eBay Price: $179.99

LUNAR 2: ETERNAL BLUE KEYCHAIN FIGURE

This 2-inch-tall Lucia, still in its wrapper, was only available from vending machines

eBay Price: $100

SEALED PERFECT DARK BOUGHT AT NINTENDO HQ

This is what a typical in-house purchase from the Nintendo Store in Redmond looked like. They really don't trust their employees, do they?

eBay Price: $63.00

CHRONO TRIGGER COMPLETE COLLECTION

VGA-laminated, unopened editions of every physical release the game got, plus Chrono Cross

Even though releases of Chrono Trigger are rarely cheap, this particular auction is WAY overpriced

eBay Price: $12,000.00

INCANTATION

This was a late release for the SNES, but I highly doubt it's worth this much

According to the stats, the highest an unopened copy of Incantation has gone for in recent history is $760. Talk about pressing one's luck

eBay Price: $2999.99
And there was another guy on the same day selling one for $4999.99

WORMS: ARMAGEDDON FOR N64

eBay Price: $3999.99

What is WITH sellers lately? There are sealed copied of Link to the Past going for much less than this

Oh.....it's from the same guy. Okay, that figures. Don't count on him lasting very long

POPPLES CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE

One side contains the Commodore 64 version of the game and the other side contains the Apple II version. Why more 80's computer game makers didn't use this method I can't say

The seller claimed it was a giveaway and one of the rarest home computer games of the 80's. At any rate, there doesn't appear to be a dump of the ROM anywhere

eBay Price: $299.99

DRAGON WARRIOR US PROTOTYPE

The only one of its kind in the world

....Though the ROM inside is identical to the retail version

eBay Price: $49,999.99

VISTEON PORTABLE DVD PLAYER

The unusual thing about this is....it has a slot for Game Boy Advance games. It can play 'em, and it was officially licensed

It was only available through car dealerships as an upgrade for new cars(it was dockable in some early 2000's car models)

eBay Price: $300.00

VIDEO TOASTER

The Video Toaster was very, very advanced for the early 90's when it was sold for Amiga computers. With this product -- which ran on its own chipset -- the average man could create CGI animations for the first time

Since much better CGI-generating software can be downloaded now for free, it's listed here for much less than it originally cost to buy

eBay Price: $450

COMMODORE 64 MAGIC VOICE MODULE

Similar to the Intellivision Voice Synthesizer, the Magic Voice Module enhanced your C64 games with the speech of Stephen Hawking

eBay Price: $51

McDONALDS GAMECUBE FREE-PLAY KIOSK

An N64 version existed before this one did

eBay Price: $69.00

APPLE II GRAPHICS TABLET

Yes, there were graphics tablets sold this early in the home computer market. The hi-res backgrounds and title screens seen in Apple games had to come from somewhere

eBay Price: $98.00

OFFICIAL CARDBOARD STARFOX ARWING DISPLAY

It's official cardboard, therefore it's worth almost four hundred dollars....I think

eBay Price: $375.00

SEGA TERADRIVE

The TeraDrive was a combination IBM PC and Sega Mega Drive(Genesis). Only sold in Japan(but you knew that already), the hope was to take the first step in merging the console and PC markets, but the TeraDrive's sluggish processor was miles behind the more high-end PCs already out

So much for Blast Processing

eBay Price: $1000.00

See a TeraDrive in action

SEGA MULTI-MEGA

This one also came out in Europe. Someday I'll run out of weird alternate console models to show you, but that day is not today

The Multi-Mega was a Mega Drive, a Mega-CD, and as a bonus when the right number of batteries were applied....a portable CD player

This came out at the same time Sega was swamping their consumers in ten zillion other consoles and peripherals. It never stood a chance

eBay Price: $530.00

MEGA MAN 9 PRESS KIT

The Mega Man 9 Press Kit was housed inside a box replica of what the game would have looked like, had it actually been sold in the 1980's

They did an excellent job with this, all the way down to the last detail (the layered price tags ending at $9.99)

eBay Price: $427.00

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S "BONNIE THE BUNNY" PLUSH

Seller made this for her daughter, but for some mysterious reason, she didn't want it

There are several interested buyers here...Scott Cawthon should take note there IS a market for Freddy's merch

eBay Price: $195.00

SNES KIOSK: BASIC EDITION

This one is missing its stand, and the sproingy holders for the controllers. But it's unmistakably a SNES kiosk, and people will still envy it in your house. Nice price for one too

eBay Price: $735(free shipping)

THE RAREST PS3 GAME OF ALL

"Uncharted 2? Are you kidding? Everybody with a PS3 has that one."

Not with this box, which Sony only made 200 of and never sold commercially. You had to work for Naughty Dog or win a contest to own one

Contains the game, the player's guide, codes for free DLC, a soundtrack CD, an art book autographed by all the developers, and a replica of the game's Macguffin

eBay Price: $4,995.00

ABOUT A HUNDRED SHULK AMIIBOS

The fact that clueless Nintendo has handed the Amiibo market to scalpers on a platter fills me with rage. As I write this, the Shulk Amiibo is not out yet, and it's the only one I might be interested in since it's likely the only piece of Xenoblade merchandise ever to be sold

This auction's main picture is a loaded GameStop preorder receipt shoved in your face. "babyguess143," you are a dick

eBay Price: $74.95 per figure
