You know the deal...first one printed, second one
not...
The following stuff was cut from
the "Us Festival" series...
Presenting the unaltered version of the final strip in the book
(though not the final of the year). When reprinted, this one was
modified so that the final panel continued onto the last
page--redrawn, and a lot bigger and grander. Clever idea; you
wonder why most cartoonists can't think outside the box like
that.
This one was in there. But it was referenced in a
strip a week later that was not....
Bloom County scholars will note this lost strip
uses a recycled gag from the strip's first year, only this time
with Oliver's granddad in exchange for Major. They'll also note
that this is the only time we ever even HEAR of Oliver having a
granddad.
In the back of my mind for years, I seemed to remember a Bloom
County strip where a kid crawled onto Santa Claus's lap and asked
for drugs. I thought I was loony until now....I must have seen it
in one of my dad's basement papers.
Edited! In the book version, Binkley mentions the new movie by
name--"Star 80." I've never heard of it.
This one I also remember being in an old newspaper--and there
really was no color in it, except for the last panel. Last
appearance of Yaz Pistachio.
