In the past, have you lost items at the airport and never reclaimed them? Have bags that were once yours, filled with possessions that you once enjoyed, been lost forever in the grinding chaos that is the air-travel baggage transport system? Have you ever wondered where those things ended up?
I have the answer, but you're not going to like it.
They're in Scottsboro, Alabama.
Most lost luggage in America gets shipped to the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro. What are they doing there? Well, that's not a storage facility, it's a supermarket. Everything they get is resold at a bargain price. It's all legal and it's all real. THEY'RE BUYIN' YER UNDERPANTS. Blame the Bush administration.
Even THIS!
Come on! $20 for Sprung?? Not even Gamestop would try to rip someone off that badly. I think the kid with the phonics game lost it on purpose.
Very little of their stock is sold on their website(apparently, only the worst items are there). As they explain, the rate of purchases and restocks is so high that their entire inventory changes every day, and a system to accurately display what is there at any given second could not be maintained. If you lost something, you'll have to go all the way to Alabama, if it's even still at the store (and wouldn't it be ironic if you lost even MORE luggage trying to get there?)
Don't panic completely, though. Airport security holds most lost items for a minimum of two months. If you lost something dear to you and you're still within that time frame, call every airport you've been to immediately--otherwise, some southern fat-belly gets your $6000 digital camera. And YER UNDERPANTS.
The only things that don't wind up at Unclaimed Baggage are confiscated weapons.
THOSE get sold on eBay.
