A search for "Kane" in the first 50 posts brings no results.

JJ mentions him in the first whine post, #69.

So what we're complaining about is people getting excited over Kane back when he'd only been gone for a year or so?

But like I said, I can't comprehend why Kane is even becoming an issue here. The ONLY people who brought him up are JJ, juke, and Mac. He didn't appear in any of the massive TWO lists posted in this supposedly worshipful topic. A topic that's about NOW.

My list was based on people who molded this board, since Duel's topic title and first message were all over the place.

You had something else to say last night.
~No, I didn't. I was talking about my own post that just happened to have Impy in it. It's completely different from outright trying to attack Deity personally.

While Deity can be a nuisance at times, he's still more acceptable than others.

I have no issue with folks reminiscing about the past. You're right, just about every group of friends does the same things about "the old days," or "the way things used to be." I used to do it all the time myself with the GT3 board vets, and I still do it today IRL with fraternity brothers and ex-coworkers and stuff like that. Honestly I enjoy hearing about the past events of this board, some of the stories are pretty funny, I don't feel alienated or anything.

The problem with topics like these is that you guys are always trying to establish an order to things still. Like certain posters are more important than others. Certainly some posters contribute more to the board than others, but everyone has their place. The whole ranking of people, it's asinine to me. To say this person was here for this event and this person was here for that, and therefore more important, I think is goofy. (I don't think anyone actually said that in this topic, but it's implied, at least to me.) Overall the worst of it is people put so much time into keeping track of all these things. But that shot goes not out to just the ZSB, but plenty of boards (MBHS is a big example). I don't know how often these topics come up (I don't keep track), but it happens often enough that I notice it. I guess if it's important to you guys, then go ahead. I probably shouldn't be butting in, I usually don't. Just stuck my opinion in there.

My whole point is remember the past, but don't get all wound up in it to the point where you can't just come here and appreciate the board for what it is and who posts there today, and flippin' have fun.

And sorry if I've been a barb in the side of topics. I've got a pretty cynical attitude towards most things. Just providing my viewpoint, I'm not trying to intentionally **** on topics or anything.

I'm kind of sorry I said anything now, because I'm sure people are going to jump on this now. I like just about everyone here, I come here more than any other board on GFAQs. I come here because the level of intelligent conversation on video games and other topics is far above average and provides excellent reading. So I'm not trying to stir any **** here.

I don't think it's jealousy, I just don't see why he has to speak on it at all. And I'm still not convinced any of it is all that frequent. Or exclusionary, judging by FBM.

~No, I didn't. I was talking about my own post that just happened to have Impy in it. It's completely different from outright trying to attack Deity personally.

While Deity can be a nuisance at times, he's still more acceptable than others.

You said that saying "I told you guys 2 years ago that Impy wouldn't be funny in two years" isn't ragging on someone, and now you say that me asking if anyone really likes him is a direct affront?

It wasn't an attack, it was a genuine question. I even said in that post, or in the next one, that I didn't have beef with him, I just didn't think he had too many huge fans. I usually don't have a problem with Deity, sometimes I even think he's cool.

I didn't say anything bad about Deity. I have no problem with him... I just don't see how you consider it a circle jerk when someone comes back and people say "Hi."

This is about how I feel.

I don't think it's his place to speak on that particular subject. Like a Democrat talking about what's wrong with the Republican party, or a white guy telling black people how they should act, or something. It should be someone who actually has funny stories of their own being spread around who should try to put a stop to it, not someone who's totally disconnected from that sort of interaction. I don't tell people to stop with World of Warcraft topics.

Ok.

The pro -- the post got too long -- usually don't. Just stuck my opinion in there.

No one is doing what you claim in the first part of this paragraph. If I tell a funny story to my high school friend, my college friends don't accuse me of acting like he's from a higher tier. I don't know why that'd be different on a message board.

Wait, you're talkign about this topic specifically, talking about who's influential. This is not a tier thing, it's just an observational thing. I see what you mean now, I think you are misunderstanding what Duel was getting at. Look at my old Abadox topics, or ZMS/TNIGC ones, if you want to see what favoritism/tiering/excluding is.

No one here is really too boneriffic about each other's ranks, those days are long gone. We're just a crew of friends, that's it. Some friends in that cricle are going to be more dynamic or leading than others, that's what the topic is about.

My whole point is remember the past, but don't get all wound up in it to the point where you can't just come here and appreciate the board for what it is and who posts there today, and flippin' have fun.

Is anyone having this problem? I'm not.

And sorry if I've been a barb in the side of topics. I've got a pretty cynical attitude towards most things. Just providing my viewpoint, I'm not trying to intentionally **** on topics or anything.

I like the old posters who pop in sometimes. I have no grudge with them. What I was mainly referring to with my "circle jerk" comment was the way their "Hi" topics generally end up in a "remember what you did once? lol" back and forth that prevents anyone new (who isn't trying to score points by learning about past events they weren't around for) from contributing in. I don't care about them now, but that's how I felt 2 years ago.

1. Yes that jab was very obvious.

2. I don't intend to take part in reminiscing topics because I wasn't there but (as previously stated) I do have a natural urge to be informed about places I go to. Just because I want to know about the history of this board doesn't mean I'm going to go into topics that I have no business going into e.g. topics about things that I only have a partial understanding of.
