jjjimbo215: What did you think of the N64 controller? AdmiralViscen: i likd it AdmiralViscen: back in the day AdmiralViscen: its pretty weird now jjjimbo215: check out what this idiot says AdmiralViscen: butb nothin beats the Z trigger except wii's B button jjjimbo215: Lancun: Well, I kinda agree, but also disagree. Granted, I love it on the Wii, but the N64 controller is the most atrocious game controller I've ever laid hands on. jjjimbo215: Really? I liked the N64 controller jjjimbo215: and in thi case it doesnt matter in MK64 Lancun: what the hell was the left side even for? jjjimbo215: cause you dont use L or the Dpad jjjimbo215: umm jjjimbo215: games that use teh Dpad Lancun: How many of those were there, like 2% of its games? jjjimbo215: most fighting games jjjimbo215: and it wasnt an inconeniance jjjimbo215: so why complain? jjjimbo215: inconveniance* Lancun: yes, it was Lancun: it forced awkward ways of holding it for those games that didn't use it jjjimbo215: lmao jjjimbo215: no it didnt Lancun: yeah, it did. Either you held it on left and right sides and had to stretch you thumb to reach the analog stick, or you had to hold it in the middle and right and have it be the most awkward controller feel ever jjjimbo215: it was meant to be held from the middle and right, so you can reach the Z. it was comfortable AdmiralViscen: hes an idiot, something like jet force gemini would be unplayable on a regular controller, even zelda isnt the same jjjimbo215: yeah I know jjjimbo215: He reminds me of Impy AdmiralViscen: at the time they didnt know if gamers would dig analog so they included two ways to hold it AdmiralViscen: there was nothign wrong with holding it fromt he middle jjjimbo215: Nintendo has always been innovate on controllers, as well as making them comfortable AdmiralViscen: yarly --- Join in on One of GameFAQs' Most Historic Boards: ZSB http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=548 {εί} |

I hate the N64 controller. I've played a fair few of the more popular games on my modded Xbox, and every single one of them worked very well. --- He ain't heavy, he's my brother. Juggling Joker! |

The controller is fine, and people who criticize it in an attempt to discredit the N64 are *******s. When you're in the middle of game, you're not paying attention to where your hands are on the controller and feels just fine. --- The ZSB: If you're not part of the crows it's pretty boring. |

Was there ever a way to have a rumble pak and a memory card in a controller at the same time? |

It's OK. I do love the Z trigger, but it's weird to hold onto only half the controller at a time. My friend has a cool HORI N64 controller he got in Japan a while back that kind of looks like a GCN controller. So comfortable. I might actually offer him money to buy it. --- TC is a Mormon..... The one good thing about the N64 controller is the Z trigger. Besides that, the GCN controller is better. Seems to have more durable analog sticks, too. --- 'All opinions are not equal. It looked ass, but was perfect at the time. I don't think holding the middle and right "prong" was awkward at all, it was genius to have the analogue stick available under your thumb (instead of having to stretch to it, as PS3 STILL does). And one could play Waverace with one hand (all you needed was the stick and the trigger), with a perfectly balanced controller, holding it right in the middle. Especially great when I still smoked. --- Currently playing: Final Fantasy III (NDS), Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) Blast from the past: http://users.ign.com/collection/Big_Bear_is_back |

I once came down with a case of Mario Party Stigmata. Should I blame it on the game or the controller? |

I held it differently than everyone else, such that my hands were opposite of each other while holding it. Most people I knew gripped the middle with their left hand. --- {εί} Founder of the most ancient topic on the ZSB(Board 548) RIP Lyrics Topic (6/12/2003 - 1/31/2007) |

I've been quite rough with my N64 controllers, but I never broke one. And the stigmata would have made a GREAT advertisement, if Nintendo had had the balls for it. A friend of mine got blisters from Mario Party, but I never did. I did get blisters on my thumb from Rez, though. I don't think that's happened to me for any other game. I never liked the N64 controller. The handles were too close together. The multiple position thing was awkward. The joystick never lasted more than a few months. I don't even play my N64 anymore; whenever I feel the need to get my OoT on, I just emulate it on my PC and use a USB-modded XBOX controller. It works quite nicely. :) Inverted signature, haha! --- |

I will say, in its defense, that I had at least 6 of them and none of the analog sticks ever broke or had problems.
