Better than Square?
HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!!!!

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Wanna tell me how it is better?
Graphics: no
Story: no
Gameplay: HELL NO!!
Replay value: no
Battle system: NO!
That would tally: Square-5 Quest-0

This game was a disgrace to video games. It had NO redeeming qualities. It is unjustifiably to say that it is better than Square. My name may be squareisgod, but I do love my N64 and most of its games, this just isn't one of them.

Why squareisgod, my bro was obviously comparing Quest 64 to Square's NES masterpiece King's Knight.

Probably a 3. I mean, I liked it in some ways, I thought the battling was interesting, but the plot was just boring, the music was repetitive, and even the battling got old after a while. But I think it's slightly better than most people give it credit for (considering most people give it no credit at all).

And squareisgod while I do enjoy Square games they really weren't that much better than Quest 64.

i give it a 9 it was a good game but i think it only really lacked in the replay catagory cause every time you played you had to do everything in a specific order

I give it a 7 because it was kind of alright but one thing it definitely needed was a system of currency. It also could have had a storyline and emding.

I guess I would give it a 9 cause the game was pretty cool, but Brian needs a new Wardrobe! I mean, he looks like he comes from a poor family, although I know that he isn't poor. And the enemies were always either too strong or too weak. The game was awesome, though.....

This game is soooo bad it doesn't deserve a rating. Sorry, Brian.

I'm thinking 6.5-ish... It was fun, but there are some big flaws in the game that you just can't ignore.

*Picks up Quest64 catridge, beats Brian over head until haircut gets better*

*Beats his head for 4 days...*

*Ruins Cartridge*

Awww Crap!
I give it a 5, making ur own quest was fun and making Shannon revolve REALLY fast is my favorate pastime.
The music was too cheery and Brian sux, I wish you could be someone else. Some dumb kid walks around the world beating on poor defenseless animals with a bent stick and some magic? He looks for a book and his dad? I don't care about a stupid book, I just wanna design magical nukes. But the graphics we kool and Sound was well done. I hope Nintendo Gets my hint and makes a game worth calling an RPG that is NOT Zelda...

4 there are worst rpgs(final fanticy legend, earth bound zero and to think earth bound was so great) but they are few and far on the other hand since this is a unique game in virtually every persepective i can forgive it(this time)

I believe that this game is worthy of more attention than it
gets.I believe that the combination of basic story line, addictive gameplay, and interesting stat gain system give this game far more intrigue than most realize.
Thus, for some minor story line problems,I give this game a 9.

I give this game an 8,the other two points being deducted because nintendo and thq were so stupid for not finishing it!I mean it is so realistic! You can see a frickin mountain
and then run over to it and look down at where you were!Just think if all rpgs could do that! The only thing that quest64 didnt have was the one thing extra that couldve annihilated the enitre ff series was a great story!I swear that if nintendo does something like this again,an entire world to walk around in from the characters point of view,it will be such an awesome game...
From: crabapple13 | Posted: 6/25/2001 8:01:01 PM | Message Detail

great game all the way, to many crabby people that are stuck on more advanced RPG's to sit down and fairly rate this game on what it was.

Graphics: To the point graphics, nothing messed up , very viewable to the eye with some good effect added in i give it a 7.5

Sound: a good beat/tempo for the ear to make you hum it when not playing the game. 8.0

Innovation: one of the key ideas about making a video game is giving the audience something new, which THQ did with the spirit system, nothing even close has been compared to this new innovation giving it a solid 10

Story: there wasn't much of a story, just enough information to get you to point a to point b, this game made you think. If half of you people actually listened, there was about as much story in this game as final fantasy for the NES. they gave u plain info on what's going on in the beginning, and you gained a little bit more from visiting each town. Today's games are freaking novels/cinama shows, not games, it's ridiculous. i give the story a 7

Battle: the battle system seems to have intertwined what everybody wants in an RPG. a chance to attack without being hit again. you get a chance to run from your opponents attacks, every RPG gamer has been looking forward to this for a long time, but since it's on an N64 without todays top animated graphics and no realistic cut scenes for attacks, this was HEAVILY over looked. i give it a 10

Gameplay: i may be going out on a limb here, but when thinking of gameplay, graphics have nothing to do with it, sorry square fans i know that's what your games are all about basically, but when it comes to quest 64 it has some solid game play, easy to pick up and learn, a beginners RPG if you will. If you wanna start to become a RPG player, this is the title to get before you get spoiled with the graphics of other games. Though the camera made many people confused to the game, the 10 that was gonna be given is now a 9

overall: overall , this is a solid title that only hardcore RPG players seem to bash. After looking at the graphics and the fact it's on another system gives them more then enough reason to bash it. and brian's little hair do is not , i repeat not a real reason, i could go on and say how the guys in final fantasy look like they just woke up , got out of bed and forgot to comb their hair, making them look like scrubs
overall this game is a 8.5

there was just about as much story as final fanticy for the nes

first off i hated final fanticy for the nes

second off it had the least story of any of the final fanticies weaking your arguement somewhat

Good job brain, for those of you who bother to have played Quest 64 you'd realize the story in all of it, but odds are, you never played it did you? nope, you didnt' , you just got made cause a good RPG came to nintendo system. Or was it the fact that nintendo's first RPG wasn't a novel? wasn't filled with useless info about garbage nobody cares about? Every person in Quest 64 you come up to relates to the game. There's no village idiot that jabbers on about nonsense or what not. Once you played the game all the way through, the story makes perfect since. But if you'd like you can always stick around saying how you did play the game so i can have some good laughs when i check this board during break time

its a good game but it could have been great just truely great but they screwed it up big time

Could this game have been better?Of course. Is it one of my favorite games?Yes.As many have pointed out the factor that sets this game apart from many is innovation.Granted its story might not be as detailed as some might like, but would you rather play a game series with a storyline that it now beginning to repeat itself in not so subtle ways?Try other series out such as Saga Frontier and see how much fun innovation can be.In my eyes innovation is far more important than a highly detailed story.

Sorry about that last post. When I defend Quest 64 I usually am a little overzealous.I also seem blind whenever I see something being a belittled that is truly great.I know my post was not "bad" and I did not violate TOS,but I felt as though an apology was necessary.

Rygon, if you want a Nintendo RPG there are some games like and a little better. Some more are The Zelda Games, and some game thats like Final Fantasy, but I forgot the name. It's something like Magic wizards of the Swords or something.

Freaking finally!! This game came to me this morning and It's all that I remember. I Tried to be skeptical because when I first played it I was young and didn't really understand much about video games, so tried to see what everyone else was seeing who didn't like it, but I couldn't, I love this game, it kicks ass.

I give it a 10!
