The steal gambit I find generally works is: Foe: HP = 100%: Steal Foe: Nearest visible: Attack That's for my party leader. Unfortunately, there's no "Foe: HP < 100%" Gambit, or else I'd use that. The only problem is that when you go into a group of enemies, your party leader will waltz around stealing from enemies until the rest of your party hits each enemy at least once, so you have to either i) be tough enough to take some beating, or ii) input some commands manually when you want to stop stealing early. For flying enemies: Foe: Foe = flying: 1000 Needles Put that above your normal attack gambit on characters who don't have long-range weapons. You can pick 1000 Needles up in the Mosphoran Highwaste, and that'll work well until you get Telekinesis, which you don't get access to until much later. If you're running out of MP for healing: Ally: HP < 90%: Cure Put that on your party leader at the end of his or her gambit; I find that my party leader routinely had full MP while the rest of my party would start running low from healing or status curing, so this would use up my party leader's MP while not in the fray and alleviate the burden of healing from my other party members while on a long journey from one place to another. After implementing this gambit, I generally stopped running out of MP during treks. Upgrade to Curaga and a lower percentage once you get that spell. Self: <positive status effect> Again, at the end of the gambit. This applies the status effect to the character whenever it's not on the character and there are no enemies nearby. Very useful for abilities like Libra and Haste. --- Shooby Doo, rock steady crew, find him an octoped ingenue With flair! (Hair!) There goes the Spiderman ~Moxy Früvous |

Things I wish were within the game: Some sort of "Steal until successful" type gambit. However, My stealers are my point folks over whom I exert the most manual control, so my little system is working well for me. I wish you got the XP and the item for poaching, but meh. I wish each character had two accessory slots. (i.e. anything and the Golden Amulet) Some sort of way to have the characters switch weapons on the fly. Not that it's hard now, and not that magick isn't effective, but it would be an excuse to have more weapons. I've got to say though, I'm more and more impressed as I play this game. For anyone who has studied BASIC/Pascal/logic/etc., the if-then-else loopiness of the Gambit system is easy to grasp, and easy to customize without getting overly complex. I've become used to the ADB system, but it's still a little chaotic at times. Yep, it's good fun. I wish I was playing right now instead of at work... -- --The thingy that should not be In Idaho, they ride horses...All I have is a bucket of parts... |

A friend of mine paid for half the rental of Soul Caliber 3, and since I won't be around this weekend, I lent him my PS2. ..I want to play FFXII.... --- Frank the Perv says: I really like hard things in my ass. |

I'll be playing this game again as soon as my new PSTwo arrives in the mail. --- It's like going into a pet store and asking for a dog, only to be confronted by the guy behind the counter, who tells you they have fish.~~Hawk Eye |

I've got 90 hours under my belt now. I've beaten the game in the sense that I fought the boss that's at the end of the main storyline, but I've still got sidequests to finish up and marks to hunt. I finished the license grid with all six characters and have all the magicks and technicks, and I've got 9 Espers beaten and 28ish marks hunted. --- Shooby Doo, rock steady crew, find him an octoped ingenue With flair! Well, I am getting closer towards the end, and I still am swearing by hand-axes. With three axe-swinging maniacs, nothing stand any chance, and my people are dodging like half the attacks. --- ZSB: We look so much better in a dress than you. · Tċß For Love of Evil |

Does it matter who gets what Quickenings? I've got a few unlocked for a few characters, but I don't want to waste them on the wrong people. I'm only at just under 17 hours in. Just past two parts of the SandSea, got to some area that makes me save between areas and a large ominous looking castle. --- Frank the Perv says: I really like hard things in my ass. |

I wondered that too for a while, and then a quick comparison shows that the quickenings are named by character. Basically, all the quickenings are the same and everyone ends up with 3 if you cover the board. --- ZSB: We look so much better in a dress than you. · Tċß For Love of Evil |

If you're planning on getting all 18 Quickenings, then focus on getting the Quickenings for the characters you use most frequently first. Otherwise, there's no distinction between various Quickenings, and any order that assigns all 18 Quickenings is equally good. --- Shooby Doo, rock steady crew, find him an octoped ingenue With flair!
