I honestly don't get the backlash at all, 8.8 is a frickin' GREAT score. Jeff might prefer orchestral music and voice acting, so what? if you don't then you'll enjoy the game more than him. It was a positive review with a few niggles that affected Jeff's view of the game, if you think the few niggles are completly fine then you will enjoy the game a lot. So what if he reviewed stuff like THPS3 better? People's tastes change over time, perhaps greatly. I go on/off stuff by the minute these days. --- Jimbo009 - Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest. |

NintendoWorldReport didn't take any points off of the final score for control. The Penny Arcade quote has nothing to do with what I said. IGN's review had a paragraph specifically added to combat GameSpot's (unfortunately with a couple of slight spoilers in it), saying that there WAS heaps of new stuff to see and do, and that it felt distinct as a Zelda game. And almost EVERYONE called it the best Zelda ever. Gerstmann's disgraceful style of reviewing doesn't help either. He doesn't award points for good games that do things really well, rather, he docks a point for each complaint he has, and rates the game in a completely backwards way. NO Zelda game deserves an 8 for Gameplay or a 7 for Sound, at least not when basically everyone says both are amazing. He took those points off because of things like controls and the lack of orchestrated music, but the score that comes out as a result is completely inaccurate. I honestly don't get the backlash at all, 8.8 is a frickin' GREAT score. Too bad it was a horrendous review that doesn't come close to doing the game justice. If he is that opposed to rehashing, I'd like to know how he explains the 10/10 for THPS3. --- "All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others." - Douglas Adams |
