I'm sad...

I met an awesome girl this weekend, and we seemed to get along just dandy.

This is not why I am sad.

She lives a little ways away, which will make seeing her a pain, and I found out from a person I trust that she's not the best person to get to know well. From my time with her this weekend, she either hid it well, or is actually trying to be better. In any case, this info about her is what made me sad.

If you want to give advice, that's fine. I don't really need it, more just wanted to say something to someone.

From my time with her this weekend, she either hid it well, or is actually trying to be better.

You just met her. People are usually on their best behavior wen you first meet them. She could be a raging **** or a perfectly nice girl. But, like, what's the big deal if she is a raging ****? I know it kind of sucks, but at least you just met her and it's not someone you've had long relationship with.

So, either listen to your friend or find out what she's like for yourself. That's really all you can do.

It seems very Quiddish to me, and Quiddish is always cool.

I do agree that you only will see the good sides of people when you first meet them, usually. And then when you get to know them you can find their idiosynchrasies and such that are annoying or go against what you think. Example, I met this girl at work and we clicked really well, then I drove her home one night and we were chilling in her driveway. She got her bong out and took a few hits. Not sure what I think of it just yet.

Anyway, some people you will like more as you get to know them; it could go either way.

Yeah, the girl (Jacquiline, although she goes by however you spell "Jacky") is supposedly a bit easy, and has been in trouble for drinking, and that probably doesn't matter to most of you, but, as some might remember, I am a Jehovah's Witness, so we're supposed to have good moral standards and stuff. Which is actually why I didn't say why she was bad in the first place.

She said that we should hang out sometime, so I emailed her and let her know I'm free two weekends from now. I guess I'll have to see how that turns out.

Oh, Koala, she's got a pretty cute 16 y'old sister.

There's a lot of ways to define "easy," how are you doing so?

Because I'd say easy means multiple one-night stands over a period of time, while some prudish friends I know might say easy means having two different steady boyfriends in one year.

If you think that's a good enough reason to consider not hanging out with her, then you shouldn't. Your beliefs would only become an even bigger problem further down the line if the drinking and fooling around thing is already one,

God, it's hard not insulting the JW's beliefs,

I know what your beliefs are, And seeing it from here, I doubt that relationship can stand for more than a few months, really. She'll could probably end up harming you by making you feel bad in the long term. Somehow I doubt you only search for someone who may just want a **** buddy and go on to the next guy, not to mention girls with a drinking problem isn,t what I call good either.
Considering your ways, I'd stop wasting my time on someone who insn't worth it all if I were you.

Anyway, do what your heart tells you, but beware of the spines behind the roses as well. And the heck, she's not the only girl around you, no? You're a nice guy 'Nee, you deserve better than that.

PS: The proper way to write it is Jacqueline btw, but it's a name no one uses since at least 50 years... What were her parents thinking??

Jacqueline is a great game, and Jackie is its abbreviation.

Quid, I don't think he has a problem hanging out with her, just dating her. I don't see why you can't check out someone's sexual history before getting caught up in romantic commitments.

Never heard the name.

But staying on subject. Considering what you believe, I wouldn't try to get into a relationship with her. I'm a Christian so I understand you having a problem with her drinking and being "easy". If it were me, I wouldn't even give it a second thought. But, you do what you feel is right, I'm just saying what I think.

"Quid, I don't think he has a problem hanging out with her, just dating her."
All variables aside, I meant that more towards the dating than simply being friends, poor choice of words on my part,

"I don't see why you can't check out someone's sexual history before getting caught up in romantic commitments."
You can and should check on it, who knows what she could have picked up along the way. But taking his beliefs into consideration, if he wants to stay true to them, there'll be more issues further down the line. Just seems like a bad idea to start when there's already a problem and the road ahead only has more. A girl who fools around and smokes probably isn't gonna be too keen on a religion that forces her into a submissive role,

..No offense intended, but you guys are giving decent sounding advice. I expected more "screw beliefs, do what you want" kinda thing.

My 'infatuation' for her is fading somewhat.. I really don't know why I was so obsessed over her last night. I'm thinking lack of sleep, plus that pathetic thing that nerds/geeks have of falling in love with any girl that gives them attention, although to a lesser degree in my case. I'm also focusing my thoughts more on another girl that would fit much better with my life.

But, like I mentioned before, (I think.. my mind's all weird 'cause of tiredness), we might be hanging out in a couple weeks. Chances are, if we do do something, I'll probably get turned off 'cause of her personality or jealous by her flirting with every guy or something else bad will happen.

Anyway, I appreciate the thoughts/help. I'll keep you all updated if stuff happens.

Hmmm.... While far from a Jehovah's Witness, if I were to find out some lass I fancied was hard-drinking and easy [HoT being far from those things] I would probably find myself in a similar mindset to yours. Honestly, I would probably rabit from the whole situation. However, since you seem to be proceeding, my only advice is to approach conversations/outings with her with a proper mix of trepidation and obliviousness; that is to say, act as thought you had never heard the things your friends said but keep them in the back of your mind to act as a screen through which you interpret your interactions looking back.

That being said, good luck.

The only thing that really matters, is how much time we spend in the ministry. Unbaptized and baptized publishers are encouraged to get 10 hours a month. Auxlliary pioneers need to get 50 a month, but you sign up as one for a month, so you can plan ahead and change your schedule to work the time in. Pioneers need to get a total of 840 hours in for a year, an average of 70 hours a month. Pioneers can bank time though, and I've known of some to get 100+ hours in a month. Special pioneers need to get either 100 or 130 a month on average. Can't remember which. It may seem like a lot, but they also get a sort of allowance from the .. church, I guess you'd call it. Although it's more from the JW headquarters of the country than the local church. Special pioneers may also do a bit of work on the side, but not much.
