Okay, I can blabber, I guess. As said before, this was essentially the Week of Hell for a number of people, including myself and Lass #2. Friday night at least was a chance to take a break from all one's worries. This mostly involved a nice game of Risk, which I won after some hair-raising occurances. Lass #2, generally up for a game of Risk, was among the participants. As, of course, were 4 other people and plenty of spectators. T'day was also taking a break from all one's worries. In this case, HoT went to the Japanese mall in Arlington Heights IL, which is a good 2.5 hours via public transportation from his school. so HoT bought Japanese animal crackers and lots of random imported toys and all was well. Lass #2 was also on this trip, along with six other people, including the two specific female friends with whom she almost always spends time. Afterwards I spent around five hours in Lass #2's room going over loot, ordering in dinner, etc. With three or four other people normally also in the room. This highlights pretty nicely the basic nature of this specific courtship issue; aside from the fact that our interaction takes place more often than not within a circle of collective friends, there is also the simple fact that attempting this and failing would make things especially awkward for everyday social engagements. So we seem to be holding course; with so much to win, there's also a lot to lose. --- {Board 548} What is there left to say?{εί} |

Went down to Toronto yesterday to go to the Art Gallery of Ontario with a few friends, Jess included. For whatever stupid reason, as the day progressed, I went further into shy/quiet mode. I don't know if it was because I was shy, or because I was tired, or what exactly. I feel so stupid today for it. A friend of mine is having a party in a couple weeks, and it sounds like Jess'll be there too. I don't know if I should go and apologize and see if I can get something going, or just forget about everything. The latter is probably the worse idea, albeit so much easier. --- Final Twilight 1100 {548} |

Oh, and don't worry about the whole "girls" thing. Things have a way of working themselves out eventually. I've determined that such comments are silly. Way back, say, 4 or 5 years ago, I thought, 'Hey, everybody gets a lass or has some kind of courtship experience eventually, right? It's so common it's naturally occurring.' Whereas in actuality, nothing happens if you don't consciously act toward that certain goal; perhaps not even then. --- {Board 548} What is there left to say?{εί} |

*Shrug* Once I stopped putting so much of an effort into it, I met my current fiancee. MrMan speaks the truth. While of course you have to put yourself into position to meet people and such, mostly you need to just let it happen and not worry about it. I learned that lesson the hard way, mind you, but it worked for me. I did some investigating, and it turns out the retail Zero single is the only one that's the same one as in TAFH box set. Tonight, Tonight and Thirty Three actually had two retail versions of the single released - the one in the box set merely combines all the tracks from the two versions. The 1979 single in the box is actually the same as the 1979 retail single that was sold internationally (not in the US). The Bullet with Butterfly Wings single is the special one, since it has several songs on it that were not on any previous release. They're all covers of other band's songs. You get You're All I Got Tonight, Clones, A Night Like This, and Destination Unknown (awesomeness). And then the last one is Dreaming, where I think James and D'arcy sing together without Billy (which as you can imagine is not all that good, but rare at least). If you can find the box for $40 or $50, I'd say it's worth it just for the songs on the Bullet With Butterfly Wings single. --- The ZSB: It's like a retirement home for teenagers. - Nee |

MrManNo1 Posted 2/20/2007 10:05:32 PM message detail |
Just make sure you don't keep her in there longer than you need to. Say what needs to be said, then get out. If you guys start a conversation, that's fine, too, but make sure you leave before you give yourself a chance to have any silence. Oh, and don't be rude about leaving, either. But, if you're prone to awkward silences, you can't draw it out. I might go so far as to say that there is nothing that turns a girl off more than that. --- Saturn Valley Online. Meh, things have been sucking with me too as far as that stuff goes. A couple of weeks ago I gave this note to a girl I had been having trouble with; it basically explained that I wanted to put everything behind us and said (again) that I just wanted to be friends now. She seemed to ignore me last week and I had to go before I got a chance to talk with her. Then today we had to stay home due to bad weather. I don't have much hope that things will work out, but I want to hear it from her first hand before giving up. --- Josh... something about your arms makes me crazy pointy. - Peace___Frog's gf |
MrManNo1 Posted 2/25/2007 11:01:49 PM message detail |
Tith, don't push it if she doesn't talk to you. If she won't talk, move on. If you push her too much, she'll only start to resent you. And, for future reference, don't use notes when talking will work just as good. It just tells the girl that you're afraid of direct confrontation. --- Saturn Valley Online. An Earthbound MMORPG in the works... http://svo.dd-lan.be |
Tithenion Posted 2/25/2007 11:25:59 PM message detail |
The reason for the note was because I could never get the chance to talk to her alone. The note was approved by a friend of mine (a girl) and so was actually talking to her about it afterwards (another girl). --- Josh... something about your arms makes me crazy pointy. - Peace___Frog's gf |
MrManNo1 Posted 2/25/2007 11:30:12 PM message detail |
Ah. In those circumstances, I guess that a note would be acceptable. If she does talk to you, make sure you apologize for giving her a note instead of speaking to her directly, and explain that you were unable to speak to her in person due to time constraints. --- Saturn Valley Online. MrManNo1 Posted 2/25/2007 11:38:33 PM message detail |
Pretty much. You made the last move. It's her turn now. If she doesn't make a move, she's not interested. And, if she's not making a move because she likes you and is afraid to talk to you, then by ignoring her, you'll drive her crazy, and she'll want to talk to you. By saying ignoring, I DO NOT mean to pretend she doesn't exist if you see her somewhere. Still be friendly and polite towards her, just don't actively seek her out to talk to her. --- Saturn Valley Online. An Earthbound MMORPG in the works... http://svo.dd-lan.be |
