If you mean the FF series as a whole, then no Mac, no.

If you mean the FFX series (there probably won't be one after X-2, anyway) then yes Mac, yes.

As if the Final Fantasy series wasn't downhill enough, X-2 seems to be one of the biggest, most desperate attempts at a quick cash-in I've ever seen. I really, really bet Yuna's wearing those...I mean, not wearing clothes, to be in "disguise". <_< And the other day the designer of the game told a website that there would probably not be an X-3. And then that was a front-page article on gamespot, and linked to from the front of gamefaqs, and everything. I'm thinking....just ridiculous. So what's this now? When there's a possibility that a game might not have a sequel, it needs to be reported on the front page? this is sick. Where's their story that Luigi's Mansion won't have a sequel, huh? Obviously, this just shows how blown out of proportion everything that deals with final fantasy is.

Wario's been delayed even past June? To December? !!! This is stupid if it's true, where'd you read this? Or is it PAL only?

I have now completed Crystalis. I'd do a review here, if I weren't struck for time, but let's just say it was a great game with a horrible final boss. At the moment I was trying to decide which game to play next, and after playing 5 minutes of Rygar I don't think I'd ever want to do that again. But, scientist pg gave me a marvelous idea, and I just borrowed Blaster Master from a friend. I have never actually played this game before, so wish me luck.

I loved FF6, hated FF7 and FF8 and thought 9 was pretty fun. I'm almost finished with FFX and I actually enjoy it a lot. Blitzball wasn't fun, but being able to switch party members during fights kept the game fresh IMO.
I'm looking forward to the American version of FFX-2, the change clothes to change job-system seems interesting and stringing hits together is another nice touch, sorta borrowed from Chrono Cross.

I started BlasterMaster up again, after being reminded of it by AV, indeed. I still haven't beaten it. As far as Crystalis goes, I thought the final boss was fine, and appropriate. The GB version switched it with the emperor, so you actually fought him afterwords instead of before, I believe.

FF6 remains the best of the SNES FF's.

FF5 is better gameplay-wise, but only slightly, and only because of the job system, thus FF6 still holds every advantage over it, pretty much.

But FF hasn't made the jump to 3D well. Sure, there was the amazing 9, but 9 is the only great one. FF7 lacked interesting characters. FF8 lacked... um, everything. Graphics were nice, though, but I didn't like it's style. X was just... well, let's just say that, if it were up to me, X wouldn't exist.

I just got Sonic Advance 2 yesterday, and... wow. This is a great game. I picked it up expecting a quick game that I could play on my weekend trip (I won't be here Friday or Saturday until late Saturday night), but the Devil tempted me and I played it earlier today. I love this game.

The gameplay seems to be traditional 2-D Sonic fare. I never really got into the Sonic games for Genesis, but I've played 1, 2, and 3 on ROM. SA2 seems on par with them, though the levels feel much larger than in the other games. In addition, the three characters I've played as, Sonic, Cream, and Tails, all feel as though their moves were well-placed on the controller. Sonic has his traditional assortment of jumps and such, Cream has a limited flying ability (not as long as Tails') and a Chao helper, and Tails gets a lot of air time with his flight. All characters can now grind, and all characters can now do "tricks" after they've ground or sprung from a spring: In the middle of the jump, they can catch more air with a second jump, get more distance with a mid-air dash, or dive bomb enemies below them. It sounds like a novelty, but it's actually pretty helpful for reaching some hard-to-get platforms and items.

There's a new way to get Chaos Emeralds now: you need to collect 7 special rings on a level without dying in order to access the special stage. The special rings are well-hidden: I've only ever found 4 on a single go, though I'm not using a strategy guide. You have to use the characters' full assortment of moves to reach them all.

Bosses are also fun. The bosses are simple in design, but there's one trick to all of the "Boss Attacks," as they're called: Dr. Eggman, your character and the level are all constantly moving during the battle. Even the first boss, where Eggman justs swings a hammer down at you, is trickier when it takes 3 full seconds of running up to the boss in order to get a good hit on him. Though it sounds tedious, this aspect, IMHO, makes the boss fights more challenging and more fun.

I'm either getting Sonic Advance 2 or Megaman & Bass today, if I get Sonic Advance 2 there'll be a report in a similar topic, and that does suck if Knuckles isn't in it (especially if he's replaced by Cream; ugh), although I heard some rumblings about secret characters, or something.

Hmm, thanks for the Sonic Advance 2 info. I'd get that game, if I had a GBA. That does sound like an interesting way to fight bosses...I think some boss fights in Genesis sonic games were like that, though not all.

Can someone help me in this? I have a key in Blaster Master which I got from the frog. What do I do with it?

Okay, so you just finished the fourth world? There's a padlock thing you have to take the key to- I believe it's somewhat after the first part of the fourth stage and you go to the right. So you'll just have to backtrack there after the boss, I believe. Are you noticing this game to be a bit too repetitious? That's my main problem with it...

Project Number 03 seems to be pulling in some lackluster scores with Japanese publications. I can't say I'm entirely surprised.

In other news, I recently looked through a list of upcoming PS2 games this year (and beyond) that had little write-ups on each one. Reading that suddenly reminded me why I hadn't gotten a PS2 yet- trash, and lots of it. The handful of games they did say were looking to be great titles typically didn't turn me on either. Something does get my blood flowing though: Gradius V. I just hope it's innovative enough, but it's nice to see more confirmation that Treasure is behind it. While I'm sure Konami themselves could make a good Gradius game, Treasure assisting (or more) in the development leads me to believe there may be some new additions or concepts...since that's the type of thing Treasure usually does. As long as I can get a couple *great* PS2 titles a year, and am able to find the psx titles I want, the system should be more than a worthy purchase. It's hard to tell what's going on with GC this year too, with things getting delayed again and again. Hopefully E3 will clear this up.

Contra SS will likely be my first PS2 purchase, and from Scumbag's fruitful impressions of the game he's given me since last year, I doubt I'll be disappointed. He says it's the hardest in the series, so I was practicing the other one in the series I had a fair amount of trouble with, Contra 3. I can now beat it on easy consistently without continuing, since I figured out where I should use L and R and where I shouldn't. I had MASSIVE trouble on the stage 5 boss on Normal, but can take him out quickly with laser. I lose all my lives by the last boss though...I still have a bit of trouble with the first part. And Hard mode tears me up- how do I get those guys in Stage 2 to come out of their manhole?!?!

I doubt anyone reading this is familiar with Contra III. So this is just my personal ramblings...unless either Scumbag shows up in this topic or someone who knows the game says something.

The Block Buster near my place is selling off all it's n64 games. I picked up Quest 64 and Rush 2049 for $15 each. Sweet sweet games.

Quest is the only rpg I've played, where your attack, magic, agility, defense, HP, MP, and each spell levels up individually, according to how much they're used. It's a really neat concept.

Rush 2049 has a sweet stunt mode. I think I may have bought the game just for that. I'll have to see how much I play the actual racing part.

No I haven't. Perhaps I'll check it out though once I get a PS2, as it's the only 3D platformer for the system that appeals to me.

Quest is the only rpg I've played, where your attack, magic, agility, defense, HP, MP, and each spell levels up individually, according to how much they're used. It's a really neat concept.

It may be, but I found the game quite repetitive and boring. It definitely feels stripped down (and it actually was...there were supposed to be two other party members...you can still tell who they are in the game because they are higher polygonal models...they just don't join you). There are no side quests, no extras, no currency, no fun. The music was appropriate, however.

I got my Playstation Demo Disk the other day. It has quite a mix of games.

Tekken 3 is one of the best fighting games I've played in a long time, while the Powerpuff Girls is one of the worst. There's no way of telling what the hell you are doing, whether you're trying to fly, toss an item, or simply move your character across the screen.

Spiderman 2 is fun. But not all that different from the N64 Spiderman game I've played. That's all I've gotten to so far, I still have 5 game demos to go through. I'll play them...as soon as I can pull myself away from the Tekken demo.
